You will sail through the beautiful West Frisian landscape. The route runs through ring canals and ditches, past old polders such as the Heerhugowaard, Berkmeer, the Lagehoek and the Schermer. Several windmills along these canals will remind you of the past.
Sailing through the Alkmaar-Kolhorn Canal - one of the three completed canals of the 1922 Westfriese Kanalenplan, which was never completed in its entirety due to the explosive development of road freight transport - you will pass Langedijk, where the kingdom of a thousand islands lies hidden on the other side of the dike. A visit to this area is definitely worthwhile. The Stadshart of Heerhugowaard is nearby.
Near the village of Rustenburg, you sail through the 100-year-old lock operated by volunteers; a unique experience. And during your cruise, stop at the small harbor of Spanbroek\/Opmeer, where you can also start your trip at the boat ramp.
