19. Hoop doet Leven

Hier in de Elsgeesterpolder staat de molen ‘Hoop doet Leven’. Hoewel deze molen gebouwd werd in 1783 staat hij hier pas sinds 1999. Oorspronkelijk stond hij nabij de bloemenveiling Rijnsburg. Hij is verplaatst omdat hij door uitbreidingsplannen van de veiling ingebouwd dreigde te worden. Leuk detail: de overdracht van de molen aan de Rijnlandse Molenstichting vond plaats op het moment dat de molen een halve meter boven zijn nieuwe plek hing. De molen was toen geen onroerend goed en viel daarmee onder een gunstiger belastingtarief. Net als veel andere molens is Hoop doet Leven maalvaardig en kan hij worden ingezet indien nodig.
